Meet Dr Doug

Dr Doug English, an Australian vet and long-time turmeric researcher, created his Golden Paste recipe by adapting traditional recipes to current cooking practices and materials. In September 2012, he founded the Turmeric User Group on Facebook to gather anecdotal reports on the benefits of turmeric.

After recommending Golden Paste to his clients for over 10 years, Dr Doug was able to manage and reduce the pathology of many diseases related to chronic inflammation, including arthritis. The reports from group members in the following six years have confirmed those benefits.

As Dr Doug's Facebook group grew rapidly from about 100 friends and clients to now over 270,000 followers, it became apparent that the amount of information was too abundant for the Facebook webpage to handle alone. So, an expansion was due, thus, the "Turmeric Life" website was launched. We are  also active on Facebook and Instagram.

Many of the articles on this website were authored by Dr Doug and the Original Turmeric Users Group (OTUG) admin team. Through OTUG, Dr Doug is able pose questions and collate the data from the thousands of people who consume Golden Paste and include it in their pets' diets.

Our Turmeric Life website provides a one-stop portal for all things turmeric. We have recently upgraded and add new articles and posts are published regularly. Anecdotal stories and photos are featured, and Dr Doug and his team will continue to answer questions, and provide updates on the latest research.

In most cases, we advise against the use of turmeric and/or curcumin capsules, pills, supplements, tonics, and drinks. There is a valid place for curcumin supplements in very few, limited situations. Turmeric capsules may be a source of turmeric when the more effective Golden Paste isn't feasible. However, many of these products are expensive, with disputable claims and little to no scientific justification. Many of these products are poorly absorbed, and some contain honey or other sweeteners that add no benefit and may provoke inflammation, illness and pain, as opposed to reduce these conditions.

Get the authentic version. Turmeric is a plant. It is real food; turmeric is not a drug. It is meant to be eaten as food, with food. You wouldn't take an apple pill in place of eating an apple; why would you act differently with turmeric?

Turmeric Life aims to grow and produce the world's best-quality turmeric (and more) on the Gold Coast of Australia to fund much-needed research on this humble plant, whilst continuing to provide our services as widely with as much accessibility as possible. You can help support us by trying our new Turmeric Life Power bars for an authentic turmeric treat which provides a host of benefits!

If you want to know more about turmeric, just ask us. It's our life. Dr Doug's Turmeric Life.
